Enrollment: Enrollment in courses with MrsEyersASL does not result in a degree and is not intended to prepare students to work as interpreters. However, students who complete semester-length courses or higher level courses with MrsEyersASL are encouraged to seek performance or placement examinations should they pursue their education in ASL and/or Deaf culture formally.
-
Synchronous Courses: Students in synchronous courses are required to attend the posted number of live synchronous class meetings for their given course to be considered for course completion. Any student who does not attend the posted number of class sessions or does not complete the posted assignments for the course with a grade of C or higher will not receive a completion certificate.
-
Participation: Students in all courses are expected to participate in all course activities. While no transcript will be provided, the grade offered in the virtual classroom environment will show students how they are performing, overall, and prepare them with feedback for future improvement. Should a student not earn a grade of C or higher, they will not receive a certificate of completion.
-
Course Completion: A certificate of completion or proof of enrollment in a similar course elsewhere must be provided in order to enroll in the next course level. For example, completion of a semester length ASL I course (through MrsEyersASL or through another source with proof of successful completion) must be obtained before registering for a semester length ASL II course. The same is true of Basic ASL I, II, and so on. Specialized courses (such as ASL for First Responders, Baby-sign, etc.) do not meet the course requirement for moving into a higher-level course and are considered stand-alone courses. Individual modules, tutoring, and group tutoring do not count towards course completion credit in this way.
-
Payments: All payments are required to be paid in full prior to the first day of a course. Payment through PayPal is preferred, however, other payment arrangements can be established through contacting MrsEyersASL on an individual basis.
-
Syllabus policy: All students are expected to follow the expectations outlined in the syllabus for their respective course(s). Students who do not follow the expectations or who do not respect the learning environment may be asked to leave a course, if needed. Refunds will not be given in these situations. Additional policies beyond those listed here will be available in the individual syllabus for the course upon enrollment. The syllabus will be available for students prior to the b beginning of the course for full review.
-
Assignments: There are various assignments that will be conducted throughout a given course. These assignments may include reading assignments (articles written in English), writing assignments (written work is expected to be in English), expressive ASL (students will record themselves signing using an online video recording platform), receptive ASL (students will view videos of other signers and respond to comprehension questions), and other formats. By enrolling in any courses, students and/or parent(s)/guardian(s) consent to the use of pictures, videos, and other responses to assignments.
-
Privacy: All efforts will be made to ensure privacy of completed assignments, when applicable, and of student information. Student images and/or videos and/or likeness may be used in advertising and marketing materials for prospective students in similar courses. Consent for use of these materials is assumed upon enrollment.
-
Refund policies: Students who cancel their enrollment in a course 7 days or more prior to the start date of their course are entitled to a full refund less the 10% deposit required for all enrollments. Students who cancel their course(s) within 6 days prior to the start of their course enrollment through the day before their course begins are entitled to a 75% refund, less the 10% deposit required for all course enrollments. Students who cancel their enrollment on the day their course begins are entitled to a 25% refund less the 10% deposit required of all enrollments. Any student who cancels their enrollment after the start date of the course will forfeit their tuition.
-
Respect: The goal for the courses offered by MrsEyersASL is to foster a positive learning environment for all. The expectations for all students, in all courses and tutoring environments, is to be respectful of each other, the materials that are used, and of themselves. This includes completing work on time, as applicable, participating with the intent to learn in all activities shared within the course, and engaging with the materials that are presented. Respect for the Deaf community and culture are expected at all times. All courses are welcoming, supportive, positive learning environments for anyone to learn American Sign Language. Respect is a requirement for everyone involved.
